Why I joined SimplyFun? Because I discovered a treasure!

Why did I join SimplyFun? Because I discovered a treasure that I have to share! Hi! I am a school based Speech therapist in RI working with preschoolers and I joined SimplyFun in November 2019 because the games are amazing and fit perfectly with my philosophy of learning through play!! 

Every year I get to help my preschool students to improve their speech and language skills and SimpyFun is a great tool in my bag of tricks! I love that the SimplyFun website lets you search by age or topic and includes tabs for Special needs and Autism! Why SimplyFun is Perfect for Teachers!

Best SimplyFun Preschool Games

5 Ways to reduce Screen Time

Do you feel like you and your children are getting way too much Screen time? Distant learning, work from home, Ipads, phones, TV?  Technology is a great thing but we are all spending way too much time in front of a Screen! 

Does your answer to “How many hours a day shock you?” Read on for 5 Ideas to reduce screen time in your house! 

1. Technology Free Meal Time- use the time to talk and check in!

2. Read- go to your local library and to check out books for you and your children!  They may even have some reading challenges going on that you can participate in!

3. Crafts- pull out paints, crayons, and scissors and create art projects! Bonus you can make gifts for family and friends.

4. Outside time-  did you know that the average American child spends around 25-40 hours a year in free play outside? How sad is that? I know my favorite childhood memories include being outside! I read about a family challenge to log in 1000 hours of outside this year- that would definitely reduce screen time!

5. Family Game time- I am sure you have many old favorites, but if you are looking for some new educational games SimplyFun has them available for all ages and areas of interest!

5 Things to do in RI on a budget

Are you looking for fun family activities to do in RI on a budget? Beaches, bike paths, library, parks and family game nights! We have it all in our beautiful state! Not from RI? I bet you can do many of these thing in your state as well! 

1. The Beach! RI has so many beautiful beaches- we are called the Ocean State for a good reason! Take you family for a walk and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.  Some of my best memories are walks on the beach!

Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy some family time at the beautiful green space we have in RI.  One of my favorite memories growing up was feeding the ducks and climbing trees at Roger Williams park with family.
